About the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
The EFCC was established in 2003. And it was partially in response to pressure from the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF), which named Nigeria as one of 23 countries non-cooperative in the international community’s efforts to fight money laundering.
Furthermore, the EFCC has various job positions and ranks of staff. Also, it is important you know that it is a security law enforcement agency in Nigeria. And it monitors, manages and arrests all economic crimes relating to money issues.
In a bid to harness the problems of money extortions in Nigeria, the Federal Government set up the EFCC in 2003 as an agency to curtail these menace affecting the country. EFCC has its administrative center office located in Abuja and regional branches all over the country.
Functions of the EFCC
As a law implementation agency, it researches and arrest public offenders on issues of monetary violations, illegal tax, money laundering, and other money-related crimes in the country. And it monitors, manage and arrest all economic crimes relating to money issues.
Also, in a bid to solve the problems of money extortions in Nigeria, the Federal Government set up the EFCC in 2003 as an agency to curtail these menace affecting the country.
Various Ranks and Division in the EFCC
Ranks
The EFCC ranks for its staff are different from other regulatory bodies. But the three major ranks are:
- Detective Superintendent.
- Also, Detective Inspectorate.
- Furthermore, Detective Assistant Cadres of the Cadets.
Divisions
There are also divisions in the EFCC where their staffs are ranked. These divisions are six and they include:
- The Administrative Division.
- Also, the Capacity Development Division.
- Furthermore, the Research and Publication Division.
- Additionally, the Networking and Collaboration Division.
- Also, the Certificate Courses Division.
- Additionally, the Cadets Division.
EFCC Salary Structure 2022
The EFCC pays a considerate salary to its staff. And this is with respect to their ranks in the commission. Also, as a security agency, the pay is relatively good. Let’s look at how much the EFCC pays its staff.
An entry-level staff with the EFCC earns about ₦158,000 as salary. While the EFCC pays a graduate assistant a salary of ₦201,075. This is a normal pay rate on a monthly basis. A Deputy Detective who is of a higher rank receives about ₦245,000 as a monthly salary.
The offices in the agency incorporate Graduate Assistant and Deputy Detective Superintendent also.
1. EFCC Salary Structure 2021 for Entry Level Staff
A Graduate Assistant receives pay of ₦158,000 as salary at entry-level. This amount will run from 0 – 2 years of service and may be augmented after.
2. Mid-Level Salary for Graduate Assistant in the EFCC
A graduate employee of the Commission, after finishing 2 years first experience in his/her job position with the body, is subjected to a mid-level salary increase running from around 3 – 9 years experience with the organization.
3. Senior Level Salary for Graduate Assistant in the EFCC
Moving from the mid-level is a more supreme rank of staff. This is the senior-level graduate assistant.
The senior-level Graduate Assistants of the commission are graduate employees with 10 years of stay with the agency.

4. Agent Detective Superintendent Salary Structure
Another staff rank at the EFCC is the Agent Detective Superintendent. The monthly net salary for a Deputy Detective is ₦245,000.
Also, this personnel is paid a higher salary. And this is due to the fact that they have more than 10 years of experience with the Commission.
5. Entry Level Salary for Deputy Detective
Passage level for Deputy Detective is the range of 0-2 years from entering from being an Agent Deputy Detective.
The salary structure for these security personals is more advanced than the previous. And this is due to the differing years of being on the job.
6. Mid-Level Salary for Deputy Detective
A Deputy Detective in EFCC on a mid-level is paid about ₦245,000 by the Commission. And this is on a monthly basis.
Also, these categories of employees are those that advanced from the passage level. And they are those who have 3 – 9 years experience as a Deputy detective.
