GDE Parent Login
GDE Parent Login allows parents to check admission placements, download admission letter, and check admission status of their wards. The GDE Portal is a platform where parents can apply for admissions into schools in South Africa.

You can visit the Portal using a computer or mobile by following the link provided below:
- Go to Gauteng Department of Education Parent Login: https://www.gdeadmissions.gov.za/login/
- Use your ID/Passport number.
- Type in your Password
- Click on Sign In
GDE Parent Registration 2023
Applications are now open for GDE parent registration 2023. The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has announced the admissions online application dates for parents to start their registration on behalf of their learners.

- Closing Dates: Friday 14 July 2023, Time: 23:59
Step-by-Step Guide for a Successful GDE Admissions 2023/2024 parent registration
Visit GDE website
Go to the GDE website and click on the “Login” link at the top-right of the page.
Create account
If you are a first-time user, you will need to create an account by providing your name, email address, and password. If you already have an account, simply log in.
Select Grade
Choose the grade level for the learner you are registering. Keep in mind that you need to select the grade corresponding to the learner’s anticipated level for the upcoming academic year. Only parents applying for Grade 1 and 8 learners may apply to a maximum of 5 schools per child.
Provide personal and educational information
Please complete the necessary fields with personal and educational information about the learner, including their name, age, gender, and contact details.
Select a School
Select your preferred school as your first option, then you can choose up to four schools in order of preference to make a total of 5 selections.
Upload supporting documents
You will need to upload supporting documents such as:
1. Parents/ legal guardian Identity Document
2. Proof of home/ work address
3. Child birth certificate
4. Clinic card for Grade 1 applications
5. Current school academic report card for Grade 8 applications
Other medical information like allergies, medication times, and others, will have to be given to the school after a successful admission.
Click Submit
Once you have completed all the required fields and uploaded the necessary documents, submit your application by clicking “submit” button. We advice that all your documents be in PDF format.
Check Application Status
You can check the status of your application on the GDE online admissions website. The GDE will notify you via email or SMS if your application is successful or if further documentation is required.
Accept Placement
If your application is successful and your child is allocated a place at a school, you will need to accept the placement within the given timeframe.
Appeal the decision (if necessary)
If your child is not allocated a place at your preferred school or any of your preferences, you can appeal the decision by following the instructions on the GDE online admissions website.
The main purpose of GDE admission is to ensure fair opportunities for all parents to access and secure school admissions near their residence, free from any racial or social biases. It promotes equal chances for every parent, regardless of their background or ethnicity.
