Medical Officers Needed at Nyamira County Public Service Board

The mandate of the Board is contained in section 59 of the County Government Acts 2012. These include establishing and abolishing offices in the County Public Service, appointing persons who hold and act in offices of the Public service among others. Achievements For the time the Board has been in office it has managed to put in place critical structures to enable the County Government to operate efficiently Targets To ensure that all the Departments have adequate staff to enable them deliver services. Projects Development of appropriate policies, values , standards, systems and processes inhuman resource management and development Capacity development and management of human resource Event The Board is currently undertaking recruitment of staff for the department of public works and that of Finance and Planning.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions;

  1. Medical Doctor- 3 Positions
  2. Pharmaceutical Technologists III – 5 Positions
  3. Assistant Community Health Officer III – 5 Positions
  4. Medical Laboratory Technologists III – 5 Positions
  5. Nutrition and Dietetics Technologist III – 4 Positions
  6. Nutrition and Dietetics Officer III – 4 Positions
  7. Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse III – 5 Positions
  8. Radiographer III – 5 Positions
  9. Occupational Therapists – 4 Positions

Medical Doctor- 3 Positions

Requirements for Appointment: –

Must be a Kenyan citizen;

  • Must have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch. B) degree from recognized institution;
  • Recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
  • Successfully completed one (1) year Internship from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate of Registration by the Medical practitioners and Dentist Board;
  • Practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board; and
  • Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-

  • Diagnosing, caring and treating diseases;
  • performing medical and surgical procedures;
  • preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters;
  • Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments and equipment;
  • Providing health education;
  • Maintaining medical records, health information and data;
  • Counseling patients and their relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
  • Teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students and clinical officer interns; and
  • Preparing requisite documents for registration.

Pharmaceutical Technologists III – 5 Positions

Requirements for Appointment:-

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

  • Diploma in either Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology or equivalent qualification approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate of enrolment as a Pharmaceutical Technologist awarded by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB); and
  • Certificate in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • receiving, interpreting, and processing prescriptions;
  • recording prescriptions in a pharmacy unit, pre-packing, repacking and writing instructions on labels;
  • Counseling patients on usage of drugs in a pharmacy unit;
  • Maintaining drug registers/books; and
  • Stock-taking of drugs and medicine devices on monthly basis.

Assistant Community Health Officer III – 5 Positions

Requirements for Appointment:-

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Community Health Nursing, Community Health, Community Oral Health, Psychology, Nutrition, Environmental Health, Counseling, Social Work, Community Development or Health Promotion and Education from a recognized institution; and
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Coordinating community health activities;
  • Collating health data from households for analysis;
  • Sensitizing community members on health issues;
  • Recommending appropriate action for identified defaulters of health interventions;
  • Identifying and taking action for common ailments and minor injuries; and
  • Collecting data during community diagnosis; conducting community psychosocial counseling;

Medical Laboratory Technologists III – 5 Positions

Requirements for Appointment: –

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology/Sciences from a recognized institution;
  • Must be registered with Kenya Medical Laboratory technician and technology Board (KMLTTB); and
  • Must possess a valid practicing license from KMLTTB.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Conduct routine and complex hematological, clinical chemistry, histological and serological tests;
  • Conduct laboratory procedures involving manual or automated techniques;
  • Prioritize and organize work to meet changing and multiple demands and any other roles; and
  • Any other responsibilities assigned from time to time

Nutrition and Dietetics Technologist III – 4 Positions

Requirements for Appointment: –

  • Must be a Kenyan Citizen;
  • Diploma in Community Nutrition, Clinical nutrition or Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution;and
  • Registration by the Council of the Institute of Nutritionists and Dieticians in Kenya (CIND).

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Implementing Nutrition Programmes
  • Providing Nutrition services in health care facilities;
  • Conducting nutrition assessments
  • Collecting and compiling nutrition data
  • Providing nutrition health education and demonstrations
  • Counselling of patients with specific nutritional needs
  • Monitoring preparation of therapeutic feeds
  • Implementing outpatient and inpatient supplementary and therapeutic feeding programmes

Nutrition and Dietetics Officer III – 4 Positions

Requirements for Appointment:-

  • Must be a Kenyan Citizen;
  • Degree in Community Nutrition, Clinical nutrition or Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in Computer application Skills from a recognized institution; and
  • Registration by the Council of the Institute of Nutritionists and Dieticians in Kenya (CIND).

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Implementing Nutrition Programmes
  • Providing Nutrition services in health care facilities;
  • Conducting nutrition assessments
  • Supervision of nutrition and dietetics technologists;
  • Collecting and compiling nutrition data
  • Providing nutrition health education and demonstrations
  • Counseling of patients with specific nutritional needs
  • Monitoring preparation of therapeutic feeds
  • Implementing outpatient and inpatient supplementary and therapeutic feeding programmes
  • Promoting maternal, infant and young children feeding programmes and
  • Providing micronutrient supplementation.

Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse III – 5 Positions

Requirements for Appointment:-

  • A Kenyan Citizen;
  • Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Enrolled Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Midwife, Kenya Enrolled Psychiatric Nurse or Enrolled Nurse/Midwife from a recognized training institution;
  • Enrolment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
  • Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Assessing patients and clients and establishing health care needs;
  • Planning and implementing nursing care interventions based on patients’/clients’ health needs; providing appropriate healthcare service, including immunization, ante-natal care, delivery, referring patients and clients appropriately;
  • Evaluating healthcare outcomes on patients/clients preparing individualized reports;
  • Making appropriate discharge plan for patients; conducting assessment of school health needs;
  • Planning, implementing interventions and preparing periodic reports; maintaining records on patients/clients personal and health condition/care;’
  • Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment;
  • Ensuring safe custody for in-patients belongings;
  • Conducting home visits, following up discharged patients/clients and providing continuity of care; and
  • Treating minor ailments.

Radiographer III – 5 Positions

Requirements for Appointment:-

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen;
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) with grade C (plain) in English/Kiswahili, Biology/Biological Sciences or Physics/Physical Sciences and C- in Mathematics;
  • Diploma in any of the following: Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences, Ultrasound, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Digital Medical imaging equipment or its equivalent from a recognized Institution; and
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Providing radiographic services to the patients;
  • Verifying and maintaining information relating to patients; and
  • Ordering and maintaining records of radiographic and photographic supplies. 

Occupational Therapists – 4 Positions

Requirements for Appointment:-

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen;
  • Diploma in occupational therapy from a recognized institution; and
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Assessing and formulating patient’s treatment plan;
  • Maintaining records and data relating to patients;
  • Collecting data for operational research;
  • Sensitizing the community on occupational therapy issues; and
  • Preparing periodic reports.
