Government Learnerships

Most of the Government Departments in South Africa offer students opportunities for bursaries and Government Learnerships. The development of the youth will assist in stabilizing the economy while aiding in delivering a skilled workforce within the country.

Their learnership programs encourage unemployed, educated students the chance to build on their experience and skills. Most of the internships provided are for a duration of 12 months or longer. They do not usually include accommodation or transport, but will give learners a monthly stipend. Candidates are, however, urged to apply with Government Departments in their Provinces.

The learnership programs provide practical, as well as theoretical experience for successful candidates. These programs are based on the scarce skills shortages within South Africa. With the completion of their learnerships, some candidates may be offered a permanent position, where others will be skilled and experienced enough to enter the workforce, in other sectors of the country.
