Senior Secretary Grade D, Deans Office, Faculty of Engineering

Applicants must have:

  • At least KCSE C (Plain) or KCE Div. III or an equivalent qualification with a credit in
  • English Language. (Those who were employed in the University before 2007 will be considered with the grades they already have.) and must have completed the following subjects offered by KNEC or an equivalent certificate from a recognized examining body:
    • Business English III
    • Commerce II
    • Secretarial Duties II
    • Office Management III
    • Shorthand III (minimum 120 wpm) OR Audio typing writing III
    • Typewriting 50 wpm
  • Certificates and ability to use word processing, spreadsheets and data base management packages

Senior Technologist Grade DEF Medical Microbiology and Immunology

  • Applicants must be holders of either B.Sc. or Higher Diploma in any Medical Laboratory
  • Sciencies or equivalent qualification from a recognized learning Institution. They should have three (3) years experience as Technologist grade ABC.
  • The successful candidate will be among other assignments be expected to organize practical sessions for both under and post graduate students, write and review standard operating procedures and supervise other lower grade technical staff.

Technologist Grade ABC (Soil Microbiology) Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology

AD/5/49/23

  • Applicants must be holders KCSE Mean grade C with credits in relevant subjects andordinary Diploma in Applied Biology, Bacteriology, Science Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized learning Institution. They should have three (3) years’ experience as Trainee Technologist/Technical Assistant grade IV.
  • Candidates who have attended service courses and have experience in Microbiology laboratory and experimentation in green hosues will have an added advantage
  • The successful candidate will among other assignments be prepare teaching/research materials for students, Lecturers/Researchers for purposes of smooth running of practicals and field classes in addition to laboratory, field and green house duties 

Associate Professor Department Ophthalmology

  • An applicant must be a holder of an earned PhD in Ophthalmology or equivalent qualifications from a University recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate. He/she must have a minimum of eight (8) years teaching experience; three (3) of which are at a Senior Lecturer or Senior Research Fellow at the University; have Supervised to completion: a minimum of five (5) post graduate students at least; two ( 2) at doctoral level and three (3) masters level or a minimum of ten (10) masters students; have attained a minimum of 32 publication points from peer reviewed journals with: a minimum of five (5) publications in refereed scholarly journals since last promotion

OR

  • A minimum of three (3) publications in refereed scholarly journals and two (2) scholarly book chapters or two peer reviewed working, occasional or discussion papers or two (2) published scholarly teaching modules since last promotion; have attracted of Research funds or development funds or educational resources as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow since last promotion; have evidence of community service; have registered with relevant professional body
  • The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership, teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate students, organize and guide research programmes, initiate and undertake further research in their areas of specialization. Senior Lecturer Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology – 2 Posts

  • An applicant must be a holder of an earned PhD in any Medical Microbiology and Immunology field or equivalent qualification from a University recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • He/she must also have a minimum of three (3) years University teaching experience at Lecturer or Research Fellow level OR a minimum of six (6) years of industry experience in the relevantfield.
  • The applicant must have supervised to completion a minimum of one (1) PhD and one (1)Masters Student OR a minimum of three (3) Masters Students.
  • He/she must have a minimum of twenty four (24) publication points from peer reviewed journals with; a minimum of four (4) publications in refereed scholarly journals since last promotion OR a minimum of two (2) publications in refereed scholarly journals and two (2) scholarly book chapters; OR a minimum of two (2) publications in refereed scholarly journals and two (2) scholarly published teaching/lecturer modules or two (2) working, discussion or occasional papers since last promotion.
  • He/she must have attracted research or development funds or educational resources as a Lecturer or Research Fellow since his/her last promotion. The applicant must also show evidence of community service. He/she must be registered with a relevant professional body, where applicable.

Associate Professor Department of Kiswahili

  • An applicant must be a holder of an earned PhD degree in Kiswahili (linguistics, Literature or Communication) from a University recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • He/she must have a minimum of eight (8) years teaching experience; three (3) of which are at a Senior Lecturer or Senior Research Fellow at the University; have Supervised to completion: a minimum of five (5) post graduate students at least; two ( 2) at doctoral level and three (3) masters level; have attained a minimum of 32 publication points from peer reviewed journals with: a minimum of five (5) publications in refereed scholarly journals since last promotion

OR

  • A minimum of three (3) publications in refereed scholarly journals and two (2) scholarly book chapters or two peer reviewed working, occasional or discussion papers or two (2) published scholarly teachingmodules since last promotion; have attracted of Research funds or development funds or educational resources as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow (cumulative); have evidence of community service; have registered with relevant professional body

Professor Department of Earth and Climate Sciences – 3 Posts

  • An applicant must be a holder of an earned PhD in any of the following areas: applied meteorology, hydrometeorology and modelling, Climate Change Science plus a Masters degree in a Meteorology or related discipline or Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology and Environmental Geology plus a masters in Geology or related discipline or equivalent degree from a University recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • He/she must have a minimum of ten (10) years teaching experience; three of which (3) are at an Associate Professor level; Supervised to completion (CUMULATIVE) a minimum of three (3) PhD and five (5) masters students; OR A minimum of two (2) PhD and nine (9) Masters Students. A minimum of thirty nine (39) publication points from peer reviewed journals with; a minimum of six (6) publications in refereed scholarly journals OR A minimum of four (4) publications in refereed scholarly journals and two (2) scholarly book chapters since last promotion OR minimum of four (4) publications in refereed scholarly journals and two (2) peer reviewed working, discussion or occasional papers OR two (2) scholarly published teaching/ lecturer modules since last promotion; Attracted Research or development funds or educational resources as an Associate Professor or equivalent since last promotion and show evidence of community service and have Registered with relevant professional body.

  • An applicant must be a holder of an earned PhD in any of the following areas: Petroleum Geology, Sedimentology, Stratigraphy, Paleontology and palaeoclimate, Exploration Geology plus a Masters degree in a Geology discipline or Environmental Governance and Management, Natural Resource Management and in allied fields, with specialization in Forest Governance, Agro-ecosystems management, Rural livelihoods and Environment, Economics of Natural Resources, Environment Policies and Legislations plus a Masters degree in an Environmental Sciences/Studies discipline or Hydrometeorology, Physical and Environmental Meteorology, Climate Change, Agrometeorology Plus a masters in a Meteorology discipline from a University recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.

  • He/she must have a minimum of ten (10) years teaching experience; three of which (3) are at an Associate Professor level; Supervised to completion (CUMULATIVE) a minimum of three (3) PhD and five (5) masters students; OR A minimum of two (2) PhD and nine (9) Masters Students.
