University of Kabianga is located in Kabianga Division in Kericho West District. The University is situated in the Kabianga Complex, comprising the then Kabianga Framers Training Center, Kabianga High School and Primary School and the Kipsigis County Council Tea Farm. The Kabianga Complex has along history. The Government School, Kabianga, was started in 1925. Kabianga Teachers’ Training College existed between 1929 and 1963, when the College was moved to the present Kericho Teachers Traininng College.After the relocation, Kabianga Farmers Training Centre was established in 1959 at the premises.Its objective was to serve as an Agricultural Training facility for farmers from the South Rift and beyond.Kabianga Farmers Training Centre became Kabianga Campus of Moi University in May 2007. In May, 2009, the University Campus was elevated to a University College and on 1 March 2013 it was awarded charter by H.E Hon. Mwai Kibaki and became a fully fledged University.

Lecturer Grade 12 (2 Positions)

Requirements for Appointment

  • Must have an earned Ph. D or equivalent in any of the following areas;
  • Pediatrics and Child Health, Surgery (General Surgery, Orthopaedics Surgery or any related subspecialty), Radiology/Imaging sciences, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Family Health Medicine, Human Anatomy, Medical Physiology, Physiotherapy from University of Kabianga or a recognized accredited academic institution.

 OR

  • A Master’s Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized University with at least three (3) years experience at University level as a Tutorial Fellow/Assistant lecturer or in a research/industry and with evidence of registration for PHD in a relevant area.In addition, applicants with Masters Degree must have the following;
  • Bachelors Degree in Clinical Medicine or Medicine (MBchbB) or equivalent.
  • Valid practice license.
  • A minimum of 24 publication points of which at least 16 should be from refereed journals.
  • Show evidence of attendance and contributions at learned conference
  • Be active member of professional body

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach and assess courses in one’s discipline at both undergraduate and postgraduate Level
  • Supervise undergraduate projects and other experiential learning programs
  • Supervise dissertations/theses at the graduate level.
  • Participate in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses
  • Initiate, promote and participate in research projects
  • Provide professional and community services and initiate linkages and fundraising.
  • Carry out administrative and other duties & responsibilities as may be assigned

Clinical Instructor Grade 9/10 (1 Position)

Requirements for Appointment.

  • A Bachelors degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution with two (2) years working experience as clinical officer at a recognized and busy hospital.
  • A Diploma or its equivalent in the relevant field will be an added advantage
  • Registration with clinical officers council of Kenya or an equivalent with a Valid practice license
  • Evidence of attendance and contributions at learned conferences and teaching experience may be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Maintenance of Inventory, Setting Up and Cleaning After Procedures, Appointments and Bookings of Lab Slots.
  • Maintenance of Discipline and Conduct of Students during The Lab Session, 
  • Implement Preventive Maintenance, Cleanliness, Security & safety of lab equipment according to statutory requirements.
  • Work in manufacturing, pharmacy, Anatomy, histology gross anatomy laboratories. 
  • Prepare, post and distribute rota/ schedules for practicum/clinicals/skills lab demonstrations/hospital or facility 
  • Liaise with the teaching hospital for clinical instruction and practical in inpatient/outpatient or any other medical/health set up. 
  • Give technical assistance to students ,faculty and staff
  • Guide students during field work/educational trips/rural attachment /COBES/Community Diagnosis
  • Participate in implementing practical/clinical assessments
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Lecturer Public Health Grade 12 (1 Position)

  • PhD in any of the following; Public Health, Family Medicine, Reproductive 
  • Health,Anatomy & Physiology In addition, applicants must have the following;
  • A Master’s Degree in relevant area of specialization
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine or Medicine (MBchB)
  • Be a member of a Professional body with a valid practice license
  • Teaching experience in a tertiary institution will be an added advantage

Tutorial Fellow Human Rights Grade 11 (1 Position)

  • A Master’s Degree holder in Human Rights/ Or Master’s Degree in International Humanitarian Law/ Or Master’s Degree in International Relations with emphasis in Human Rights/ Or any other equivalent Masters’ Degree from a recognized University.
  • Must have a relevant Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized/accredited University.
  • Must demonstrate potential for university teaching and/or research.
  • Must be registerable for a PhD
  • Evidence of and advancement of PhD enrolment in the required discipline and University teaching experience or in research or in relevant industry shall be an added advantage.

Technologist –Zoology Grade 7/8 (1 Position)

Requirement for Appointment
Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited and recognized University with at least two (2) years relevant working experience in a teaching/research laboratory, preferably a Biological Sciences Laboratory.

OR

  • Be holders of a Higher National Diploma in Applied Biology from an accredited and recognized institution, with at least five (5) years working experience in a teaching/research laboratory, preferably a Biological Sciences Laboratory.
  • Diploma in Applied Biology will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collection and preparation of teaching and research materials.
  • Ensure that the laboratory, glass ware and equipment 
  • Arranging equipment for practical
  • Guide students during practicals
  • Supervise Technical Attendants and Technical Assistants.

Technologist –Computer Sciences Grade 7/8 (1 Position)

For appointment to this grade one must have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination mean Grade C (plain) and above or its equivalent; with passes in Mathematics/ English or its approved equivalent
  • Experience in a busy organization
  • Must be a member to a recognized professional body
  • Professional certifications will be an added advantage

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide software and minor hardware support
  • Assist students in using the laboratory facility
  • Keep detailed records and repairs and fixtures for necessary action
  • Perform regular upgrades to ensure the system remain upgraded
  • Assist team leader and supervisor as needed
  • Monitor customer use of computer lab facility
  • Transfer practical skills, methods and techniques to students and staff where applicable
  • Perform any other duties allocated

Braille Transcriber Technician Grade 7/8 (1 position)

  • A degree in Special Education from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in Braille
  • Certificate in Braille Machine repair
  • Must show evidence of Computer proficiency / Literacy
  • At least one (1) year’s experience in an established institution
  • Knowledge of Braille software and formatting will be an added advantage

Driver Grade 3/4 (3 positions)

Requirements for Appointment Must have:-

  • KCSE mean grade D + (plus) and above.
  • A clean valid driving license class A/B/C/E with PSV endorsement.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • Basic first aid training
  • Occupational trade test III or equivalent.
  • Minimum six years experience
  • Motor Vehicle mechanics trade test III will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check the vehicle before and related requirements before the journey
  • Driving carefully , safely and courteously 
  • Carry authorized passengers or baggage 
  • Ensure safety of the vehicle and the passengers
  • Clean the vehicles during and after the journey
  • Observe traffic rules and regulations
  • Maintain the work ticket
  • Ensure compliance to statutory road requirements including licenses
  • Detect and report any defect on the vehicle
  • Take precautions when driving
  • Fill the defects form after arriving from a journey
  • Respond to emergencies

Technician (Water &Sewerage) Grade 5/6 (1 Position)

  • Minimum KCSE D+ (plus) and above
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have Craft I (KNEC) certificate in Water Technology (KEWI) or its equivalent. 
  • Must have 5 years’ post qualification experience. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and repair of plumbing and sewerage works an.
  • Installation of plumbing pipes and fittings.
  • Prepares and ensures execution of work schedules.
  • Installation of water storage and supply tanks.
  • Operate and maintain dosage of water chemicals at treatment plant
  • Operate and maintain sewerage treatment plant
  • Operation and servicing of water treatment plant.
  • Operation and servicing of sewerage treatment plant.
  • Operation of water pumps.

Carpenter 3/4 (1 position)

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Government Trade Test I in Carpentry and Joinery.
  • Three (3) year experience in carpentry works post qualification.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • All carpentry works and repairs
  • Fixing, PVC, wooden and carpet floors.
  • Fabrication of partitions, 
  • Construction of wooden structures and fences
  • Operating woodworking machines for planning and splitting in preparing materials in the workshop.
  • Carrying out joinery works and repairs.
  • Making and repair of furniture, lockers, and shelves.
  • Make and repair all doors, door frames, Roof Trusses and Roof leakages 
  • Requisition of materials from central stores

Plumber 3/4 (1 position)

  • Government Trade Test I in Plumbing works.
  • Three (3) year in Plumbing works post qualification.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintenance of plumbing works.
  • Installation and attending to plumbing pipes and fittings.
  • Repairs of toilets, bathrooms and kitchen waste water pipes.
  • Repair and installation of gutters and rain water harvesting.
  • Repair of manholes, inspection chambers, septic tanks and conservancy tanks.

  • Attending and servicing of water treatment plant.

Nursing Officer III Grade 7/8 (1 Position)

  • Those to be appointed must have:
  • Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution
  • At least two (2) years post qualification experience.
  • Registered by Nursing Council of Kenya with a valid practicing license

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and Providing nursing care of patients
  • Organizing and coordinating of nursing services within a section in the Health Unit.
  • Ensure availability and safety of equipment in Health Unit.
  • Guiding and counseling of patients.
  • Carry out triage activities 
  • Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned
