- We are seeking to fill the position of a Statistician Intern based in Abuja. Under the direct supervision and technical guidance of the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping Officer in the Research, Assessment, and Monitoring (RAM) Unit.
- The intern will assist the unit with the following tasks:
- Support the design and implementation of food security, nutrition, and outcome monitoring surveys while ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained;
- Support the curation and analysis of food security and nutrition survey data including the preparation of reports and other food security-related products to support operational decision making;
- Support data management and storage of all assessment data on RAM’s Data Library and other similar cloud-based platforms, following corporate standards and guidelines;
- Contribute to the development of data processing pipelines to automatically ingest, clean, aggregate, and visualize data;

Standard Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Currently enrolled in a University postgraduate program with at least 12 months of graduate studies completed, or recently graduated (within the past six months), in the field of Statistics, Maths, Economics, Agric-Economics, Social Sciences or a related field.
- Experience: Basic knowledge of research methods and survey methodologies.
- Skills: Proficient in the use of statistical software packages (SPSS/ STATA/ R); advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; basic understanding of databases; basic knowledge of GIS; and basic code writing skills.
- Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Fluency in Hausa is a plus.

Background and Purpose of the Assignment
- WFP Supply Chain supports beneficiaries in the northeast of Nigeria on a monthly basis through the Programme unit by implementing the Supply Chain components of food distribution to the people we serve.
- Upstream unit of the supply chain plays a major role in ensuring adequate quantity of food is delivered to WFP extended delivery points in the North East to ensure monthly food distribution requirements are met.
- While the unit’s staff strength is currently inadequate to effectively carry out required operation planning, coordination and monitoring tasks, there is a clear need for a logistics staff with a strong technical background in Supply Chain Management to be added to support CO staff in this unit.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Under the direction supervision of the Deputy Head of Supply Chain, the incumbent will perform the following responsibilities:
- Provide support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
- Support timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to authorised partners and destinations.
- Support management of logistics vendors’ contracting activities including performance monitoring and measurement.
- Contribute to the drive of continuous improvement by analysing existing operational modalities to identify cost savings and service enhancements opportunities, include solution re-engineering/ redesign initiatives.
- Prepare accurate, comprehensive, and timely reports and other visual materials that feed into Supply Chain dashboards to support informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to various stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for resolution of operational and reporting queries made to the unit. This includes collaboration with other staff in specific technical area of responsibility for a coordinated response.
- Respond to a variety of technical queries/requests for support, following standard processes, and obtaining guidance as required, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries with a high standard of client service mind-set.
- Contribute to budget preparation, monitoring and revision for all delivery modalities, ensuring adherence to relevant procedures and in compliance with corporate standards.
- Assist in monitoring inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status from source to beneficiary.

Deliverables at the end of the Contract:
- Contribute to the management/analysis of supply chain pipeline and development of pipeline template
- Successfully analysis stock position and needs of country EDPs to ensure adequate supply of commodities to warehouses to service monthly distribution.
- Maintain Local Purchase Food Supply Status document and contribute to the Global Commodity Management Facility (GCMF) Stock Priority Purchase & Conversion Process with Budget & Programming that ensures timely Sales Order processing.
- Improve supply chain operation visibility by contributing to the establishment of an Upstream Logistics Operation Report and Dashboard for management update and decision making.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Education:
- University Degree in Supply Chain, Shipping, Logistics, Engineering, or Accounting.
Experience:
- Three or more years of progressively responsible work experience in operations and logistics with at least three years related to Supply Chain Management at any commercial or national/international humanitarian organization.
Desired Experience:

- Maintain and update staff files on the physical filing system and the e-filing platform on Microsoft Teams.
- Assist in the daily update of Staff in Theatre (Maiduguri AO & Damaturu SO) and submission to UNDSS
- Assist to update the R&R tracker.
- Assist in the collation of the monthly staff timesheets for processing.
- Assist to maintain documentation and update of the Staff Requisition Forms tracker for record purposes.
- Support in the maintenance of confidential personnel records, HR database and archives.
- Any other key tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Standard Minimum Qualifications
- Holder of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field;
- Have attended courses in the last 12 months.;
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
- Fluent in English and local language (Hausa/Kanuri)
- Customer oriented approach with fast response time to queries from clients and good communication skills.
- Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations or Humanitarian Sector; Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Job Purpose

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive):
- Support guest check in and check out with requisite documentation to and from WFP guest house.
- Assist in disseminating guest house rules and regulations are communicated to incoming guest for strict adherence.
- Assist in ensuring housekeeping are carried out promptly with proper adherence to Covid 19 protocol.
- Timely communication and follow up of any maintenance requirement of the Guest house.
- Contribute to improvement of business procedures and processes, respond to standard queries, and provide timely and accurate guidance.
- Monitor and maintain records of emergency food stock in the safe room.
- Support in all third-party vendor activities within the guest house to ensure proper standards are followed and high service delivery is maintained.
- Communicate complaints from guests to the Admin officer for prompt attention.
- Assist in handling of guest booking system.
- Perform other duties as required by Administration Officer.
