Australia has some of the top universities in the world and offers amazing educational opportunities for international students. Over the past few years, the country has established itself as one of the most popular study destinations in the world.

Many of the world’s best universities are located in Australia as evident in the fact that 37 Australian Universities are featured in the QS World University Rankings 2018. The country has around 1100 institutions of higher education that together offer 22000 different courses.

1.Australian National University

The top-ranked university in the country, the Australian National University has 20th rank in the QS World University Rankings 2018. Located in Canberra, the capital of Australia, this national research university has a total enrolment of 14442 students. 2. The University of Melbourne

The second highest-ranked university in Australia, the University of Melbourne is ranked 40th among the top 100 universities in the world. The University, founded in 1853, is the second oldest university in Australia and the oldest in Victoria.  Out of the total 42182 students in the University, around 12000 are international students. The University is well known for its high standards of education, teaching, and research and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The main campus of the university in Melbourne is located in Parkville. The university also has several other campuses located across Victoria. The main campus of the University in Acton has seven teaching and research colleges, besides several national academies and institutes.

3.The University of New South Wales

The University of New South Wales, located in Sydney, is the third-best university in Australia. It has also been ranked 45th among the world’s best universities. A total of 53481 students from around 130 countries across the globe study at this University.

UNSW has the highest median ATAR among all Australian universities and attracts the highest number of top 500 students. The University also has international exchange and research partnerships with over 200 universities around the world.

4.The University of Queensland

The University of Queensland is the fourth-best university in Australia, known for its high standards of its education system as well as research. Colloquially known as the sandstone university, the University of Queensland is the fifth oldest university in Australia. It is also ranked 45th among the world’s best universities.

Located in Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, the University has more than 52000 students that include around 15000 international students hailing from around 140 countries across the globe. The University of Queensland is a founding member of edX, the online higher education consortium; Australia’s research-intensive Group of Eight; McDonnell International Scholars Academy of Washington University; and the global Universitas 21 network.

5.The University of Sydney

The oldest university in Australia, the University of Sydney is ranked 50th in the QS Global World Ranking. The University has around 55000 students and the University campus is ranked among the world’s top 10 most beautiful universities.

The University provides the widest range of courses compared to any Australian university. The University has also been ranked first in Australia and fourth in the world in terms of graduate employability.

6.Monash University

A public research university located in Melbourne, the Monash University is ranked 60th among the world’s top 100 universities. This university has around 74000 students, as per data from 2016.

According to Times Higher Education World Universities Rankings, it has been ranked 21st among the top 100 universities. The University is also known for its career-focused degrees, excellent research, and academic records.

7.University of Western Australia

A public research university based in Perth, the University of Western Australia is ranked 93rd in the QS World University Rankings 2018.  Out of the 24000 students enrolled in the University, 6000 are international students hailing from more than 100 countries across the globe.

The University is a member of the reputed Group of Eight Australian Universities. The University is also number one in terms of student demand, research grants and research intensity. The university has the highest graduate employment rate in Western Australia.

8.The University of South Australia

A public research university, the University of South Australia is the largest university in the state of South Australia with around 32000 students. It is a founding member of the Australian Technology Network of Universities. The university is one of the world’s top universities, which has been ranked among the World’s Top 50 both by the Quacarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking and Times Higher Education (THE). The University has two city center campuses and two metropolitan campuses in Adelaide, besides two South Australian regional campuses.

9.Macquarie University

Macquarie Univesity is a public research university based in Sydney, Australia. The university has five faculties. The Macquarie University Hospital and the Macquarie Graduate School of Management are located on the university’s main campus in suburban Sydney. It is the third university to be established in the metropolitan area of Sydney.

10.University of Canberra

The University of Canberra is a public university located in Bruce, Canberra. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering five faculties, which are: Health, Art and Design, Business, Government and Law, Education and Science and Technology. The University of Canberra College also provides pathways into university for domestic and international students.
