Applications are invited from suitably qualified and eligible candidates for the State Department for Public Works Recruitment 2023/2024. We are recruiting to fill the positions below:

Principal Driver- 4 Posts

V.NO. SDPW 1/2023

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve driving a vehicle as authorized; carrying out
  • routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brakes> tYre pressure; and brake SYstems,
  • etc; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems; maintenance of work ticket (s). for
  • vehicle (s) assigned; ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road; ensuring securltY
  • ofpasse-nbers ind/or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle (s). In addition, the
  • officer may be required to supervise and guide staff working under/her in a small transport unit

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

  • Served in the grade of Chief Driver CSGI I/JG ‘ J’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Passed Occupational Trade Test I for Drivers;
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) R)r class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive;
  • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association(AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Attended Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) Years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHGT) or any other recognized Institution;
  • A valid certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police;
  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from st John Ambulance or KenYa Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution; and
  • Demonstrated outstanding professional competence in work performance and results.

Chief Driver CSG 11 – (2) Posts

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve driving the assigned vehicle; carrying out routine
  • check? on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brakes9 tyre pressure; and brake systems etc; delEcTing and .reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems; maintenance of work ticket (s) for Vehicle(s) assign; ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road; overseeing safety of passengers and/or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle (s). In addition9 the officer may be required to supervise and guide staff working under him/her in a small transport unit.

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

  • Served in the grade of Senior Driver CSG12/ JG ‘H’ hr a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Passed Occupational Trade Test I for Drivers;
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive;
  • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve driving the assigned vehicle as authorized; carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brakes, tyre pressure and brake system, etc; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems; maintenance of work ticket(s) for vehicle(s) assigned; ensuring security and safety of vehicle on and off the road; overseeing safety of passengers and /or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle. In addition9 the officer may be required to supervise and guide staff in a small transport unit.

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

  • Served in the grade of Driver I CSG13/JG ‘G’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Passed occupational Trade Test I for Drivers;
  • Valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive;
  • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Attended Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) Years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any otherrecognized Institution;
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police;

Driver I CSG 13- (3) Posts

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Dutles and responsibilities at this level will involve driving a vehicle as authorized; carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brakes, tyre pressure; detecting and repoFllng malfunctioning of vehicle systems; maintenance of work ticket(s) for vehicle(s) assigDed; ensuring securitY and safety of vehicle on and off the road; overseeing safety of passengers and /o; gooPs Therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle. In addition9 the officer will guide and advice junior drivers

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

  • Served in the grade of Driver II CSG14/ JG 
  • Passed occupational Trade Test I for Drivers;
  • A Valid driving license free from anY current endorsement(s) for class(s) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive;
  • Defensive driving certificate from the automobile association(AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Attended Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police;
  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any otherrecognized institution; and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

Driver III CSG 15 – (5) Posts

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Duties and responsibility at this level will involve driving a motor vehicle as authorized; carrying out routine checks on vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, etc.; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems; maintenance of work tickets for vehicle assigned; ensuring security and safety for vehicles on and off the road; safety of the passengers and/ or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean grade ‘D’ plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement (s) for class (es) an officer is required to drive;
  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
  • Passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade III;
  • Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by respective Ministry/ Department;
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and
  • At least two (2) years driving experience.

Senior Support Staff- 13 Posts

V.NO. SDPW 6/2023

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • The Support Staff Function will be deployed at different Directorate and Units within the State Department. Duties and responsibility will include cleaning duties; preparing tea and washing utensils; messangerial duties and undertaking any other related duties.

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean grade ‘D’ plain or its equivalent
  • qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police

Artisan Buildings CSG IS – (3) Posts

V.NO. SDPW 7/2023

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. This is the entry grade into the cadre. The artisan function entails undertaking improvement of works: repair works and maintenance of Government building in the area of specialization (Carpentry, Masonry)
  2. Painting and Plumbing). In addition, the function entails preparation of repair and maintenance
  3. schedules, managing maintenance workshops and facilitating other technical personnel in more complicated technical assignments.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in the area of building or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution
