It’s not the end of the road if you apply for the Special Relief of Distress grant and you’ve been rejected, you still have a chance. How? Well, you can send in an appeal.
Minister Lindiwe Zulu, who’s department is in charge of SASSA, said, “Any applicant whose grant is not approved has the right to request that the decision not to award the grant be reconsidered through an appeals process.”
The appeal has to be lodged on the website within 30 days of when your rejection status became available to you.

- Go to the SRD Grant website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
- Scroll down to ‘Application for reconsideration’
- Click on the yellow bar
- Fill in the required fields
An appeal must be lodged for every month that the grant is declined.
