Sage South Africa was formerly referred to as the Sage Group and is a South African software company, providing various services and solutions to both small and medium businesses.

These software solutions and services assist companies with their accounting and payroll needs as well as assisting in the field of customer relations.  Sage runs operations in South Africa as well as Australia.

Prospective students are those wishing to pursue their Undergraduate Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and finance.

The Sage External Bursary Programme is aimed at previously disadvantaged and disabled students, who are presented with the opportunity to study an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in any field.

About the Sage Bursary Programme

The Sage External Bursary Programme is aimed at previously disadvantaged students, living in a household with an average yearly income of R350 000 – R500 000 (missing middle).

Successful applicants will have a large portion of their study expenses covered through the Bursary.  However, it should be noted that the financial coverage is capped. 

Please note that the Sage External Bursary Programme will be open to prospective applicants who wish to study the following Degrees:

Undergraduate Degree

  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Commerce Majoring in Accounting and Finance

Postgraduate Degrees

Prospective applicants who are disabled may apply for Postgraduate funding for any study programme.

Requirements

Kindly note that prospective applicants need to satisfy all of the requirements of the Sage External Bursary in order to be considered for the Programme:

  • Applications are open to Matriculants who average 75%+ for Physical Science and Mathematics.
  • Applications are open to University students with an academic record of at least 65%.
  • Applications are open to South African citizens ONLY.
  • Applications are open to previously disadvantaged individuals (PDI’s).
  • Applications are open to those who have been accepted at a Higher Education Institution.
  • The household income of the applicant should range from R350 000 – R500 000 per annum (missing middle).
  • Applicants should be studying for IT, Accounting or Computer Science.  Please note that applicants with disabilities may apply for any field of study.

Please note that students with disabilities are not required to achieve a pass rate of 65% for their University Modules.  They may pass with a lower rate.  However, it should be noted that students with disabilities are still required to pass all of their modules.

What does the Sage External Bursary Programme Cover?

The Sage External Bursary Programme will provide successful applicants with financial assistance to help pay for the costs associated with the relevant Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree. Coverage will take the form of:

  • The tuition fees of the successful applicant will be paid for.
  • The residence (accommodation) of the successful applicant will be paid for.
  • The stationary and books of the successful applicant will be paid for.
  • The historic debt of the successful applicant will be paid for.

Please note that the Sage External Bursary Programme will be capped at a certain limit.

How to Apply for Sage Bursary

Kindly note that prospective applicants who wish to apply for the Sage External Bursary Programme can do so on the following application link.  Applications should be completed on the Study Trust WhatsApp forum known as Xhuma.

Prospective applicants should prepare the following documentation for the application process:

  • Prospective applicants should prepare a valid copy of their ID card / book.
  • Prospective applicants should prepare a valid copy of their academic history.
  • Prospective applicants should prepare a valid copy of their University acceptance letter.

Please note that prospective applicants are advised to complete the career assessment questionnaire before filling out their application form.  However, it should be noted that the career assessment is mandatory. 

Sage Bursary Application Deadline

Please note that applications for the Sage External Bursary Programme will run from the 1st of April to the 30th of September. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered for the Programme.
