Job Title: Relationship Manager
Locations: Abuja and Northern Region
Job type: Full-time
Level: Mid-Senior
Role Purpose
- To initiate and enable new business origination, enhance engagement with key stakeholders (CBN, NCC, NOTAP, NDIC, FIRS, etc.) at the appropriate decision making levels and maintain client relationships for the allocated region (Abuja and Northern Nigeria) to enable improved company profitability, market share and competitive positioning.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Origination: Originate deals in the region based on RMB Nigeria’s clients’ desirability checklist, on-board clients and ensure adequate Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence requirements are met
- Relationship and Stakeholder Management: As RMBN’s first contact point to clients and stakeholders in the region, the successful candidate will be the internal champion of clients and stakeholders, always ensuring that relationship with the bank run smoothly and beneficial to all parties
- Team lead: Responsible for training, motivating and managing the team in the branch
- Credit: Responsible for sifting through client requests and presenting bankable deals for review by the credit team in a bid to book quality credits
Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree, Master’s degree and professional qualifications (ACCA, ACA, CFA, CIMA, etc.) will be added advantages
In depth understanding and application of:
- Sales and new business development
- Relevant compliance legislation
- Banking value chain, clients, high-level processes
- Product and services knowledge
- Relevant knowledge of the region (Abuja and Northern region preferable) and public sector nuances
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience, with at least last 5 years in senior management / executive position(s)
- In a same/similar role focused on client acquisition, relationship management and growth
- Local knowledge of the Abuja and Northern region with existing and extensive relationships with stakeholders is critical
Technical skills:
- Knowledge – General knowledge of practical economics relating to business, industry and the Nigerian macro-economic environment. Thorough understanding of financial instruments and banking products. Also, possession of basic understanding of Company and Commercial Law, as well as Tax and Legal issues relating to lending
- Credit Skills – ability to make sound credit decisions and understand client’s financials, understand cash conversion cycles and funding requirements. Act as the bank’s first line of defense in terms of risk mitigation
- Verbal and Written Communication – capacity to use appropriate presentation and facilitation techniques to engage an audience and help them to understand, retain and respond appropriately to the message
General:
- Customer Service Orientation – anticipates, recognizes and meets the needs of internal and external clients or customers (however these are defined in the role), taking responsibility for maintaining the highest service standards and developing and sustaining productive client relationships
- Problem Solving – cuts to the core of issues and applies effective analysis, logic and creativity to identify and implement solutions
