Nakuru County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya. The capital and largest town is Nakuru, with Naivasha being another major significant urban center. With a population of 2,162,202[1] (2019 census), it is the third most populous county in Kenya after Nairobi County and Kiambu County, in that order. With an area of 7,496.5 kmĀ², it is Kenya’s 19th largest county in size. Until August 21, 2010, it formed part of Rift Valley Province.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
County Secretary
Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing strategic policy direction to improve service delivery by the County Public Service;
- Arranging the business, and keeping the minutes of the County Executive Committee;
- Conveying the decisions of the County Executive Committee to the appropriate persons or authorities and tracking their implementation;
- Establishing and developing collaboration with National Government ,ministries or departments, partners and other relevant stakeholders
- Ensuring effective and efficient management of resources;
- Interpreting, disseminating and overseeing the implementation of National and County Government policies;
- Coordinating County Government departments;
- Providing direction to Public Officers in the County;
- Performing any other functions as directed by Her Excellency the Governor
Requirements for Appointment
- is a citizen of Kenya;
- holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
- has at least ten years relevant professional experience;
- Has at least five year experience in a leadership position at senior management In a public service or private sector organization; and
- Meets the requirements of Leadership and Integrity as prescribed in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya .
Core Competencies:

- Knowledge and experience in policymaking;
- Ability to transform political vision/manifesto into implementable Government Policies;
- Capability to head teams towards institutional systems and structures development ;
- Proven track record in systems management;
- Proven track record in people management and development;
- Strong leadership and influencing skills;
- Public communication and citizen engagement;
- Ability to develop and set good practice in program and project management for service delivery.
