The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) is a state corporation that operates under the Government of Kenya whose mandate is to “regulate the creation, broadcasting, possession, distribution, and exhibition of films by rating them.” The Board was founded in 1963 with the commencement of the laws outlined in the Films and Stage Plays Act of 1962 (Section 11)[2] and has since involved itself in the rating and classification of films and television programmes.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:
External Examiner – (10 Posts)
REF: KFCB/HR/2/2023
Job Purpose:
- Assist in the examination and classification of films in accordance to the Film and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222.
Responsibilities;
- Examine and classify film in accordance with the Board’s classification guidelines.
- Produce film examination and classification reports.
- Assist in preparing annual film classification report.
- Participate in development and review of film classification guidelines.
- Assist carrying out research on film classification and trends in the film industry.
- Promote and defend the Board’s brand, vision, mission and values.
Specifications/Requirements for Appointment;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Media Regulation, Law, Child Development Education, Psychology, Religion, Film Production, Behavioral Science, or related field
- Relevant experience in Media Regulation, Law, Child Development Education, Psychology, Religion, Film Production, Behavioral Science or any other related field;
- Strong contemporary knowledge and understanding of the film and entertainment industry as well as a grasp of age rating issues such as drugs, portrayal of sex and violence, etc
- Critical thinking
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills
Upon offer of employment, the successful candidate must present and satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 by providing the following certificates :
- Valid Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
- Valid Clearance Certificate from accredited Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
- Valid Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
