Kenyatta University (KU) is a public research university with its main campus in Nairobi. It acquired the status of a university in 1985, being the third university after the University of Nairobi (1970) and Moi University (1984). As of October 2014, it was one of 23 public universities in the country.

We are currently recruiting to fill in the following positions;

  1. Professors – Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science

  4. Lecturers – Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science
  5. Tutorial Fellows – Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science
  6. Professors – Department of Recreation and Sports Management
  7. Associate Professors- Department of Recreation and Sports Management
  8. Senior Lecturers -Department of Recreation and Sports Management
  9. Lecturers – Department of Recreation and Sports Management
  10. Tutorial Fellows – Department of Recreation and Sports Management

Professors – Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy , Recreation and Sports Management or related field from an accredited and recognized university 
  • At least Twelve years (12) years of University teaching, Seven (7) of which as full[1]time Senior Lecturer.
  • Successfully supervised at least Five (5) Masters Students and Two (2) PhD. students, since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
  • At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as Associate Professor.
  • Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Associate.
  • Evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars and workshops.

Associate Professors- Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy , Recreation and Sports Management or related field from an accredited and recognized university 
  • At least eight (8) years of University teaching, four (4) of which as full-time Senior Lecturer
  • Successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters Students and one (1) PhD. student, since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
  • At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
  • Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
  • Evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars and workshops.

Senior Lecturers – Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy , Recreation and Sports Management or related field from an accredited and recognized university 
  • At least three (3) years of University teaching experience as full-time Lecturer. 
  • At least three (3) articles in refereed Journals since being appointed Lecturer 
  • Successful supervision of at least three (3) Masters Students.
  • Evidence of applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Lecturer.
  • Evidence of good quality teaching.
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops. 

Lecturers – Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy , Recreation and Sports Management or related field from an accredited and recognized university 
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience at University Level 
  • Evidence of good quality teaching.
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops. 
  • Show evidence of publishing in refereed journals.

Tutorial Fellows – Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy , Recreation and Sports Management or related field from an accredited and recognized University
  • Be registered or registerable for a PhD. in relevant field.
  • Applicants must be prepared to pursue PhD. in their areas of specialization

Professors – Department of Recreation and Sports Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Leisure & Recreation Management or equivalent from an accredited and recognized University.
  • At least Twelve years (12) years of University teaching, Seven (7) of which as full[1]time Senior Lecturer.

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Leisure & Recreation Management or equivalent from an accredited and recognized University from an accredited and recognized university 
  • At least eight (8) years of University teaching, four (4) of which as full-time Senior Lecturer
  • Successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters Students and one (1) PhD. student, since being appointed Senior Lecturer.

Senior Lecturers -Department of Recreation and Sports Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Leisure & Recreation Management or equivalent from an accredited and recognized University.
  • At least three (3) years of University teaching experience as full-time Lecturer. 
  • At least three (3) articles in refereed Journals since being appointed Lecturer 
  • Successful supervision of at least three (3) Masters Students.
  • Evidence of applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Lecturer.
  • Evidence of good quality teaching.
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops. 

Lecturers – Department of Recreation and Sports Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy , Recreation and Sports Management or related field from an accredited and recognized university 
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience at University Level 
  • Evidence of good quality teaching.
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops. 
  • Show evidence of publishing in refereed journals

Tutorial Fellows – Department of Recreation and Sports Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Leisure & Recreation Management or related field from an accredited and recognized University.
  • Master of Science in Recreation & Sports Management or equivalent from an accredited and recognized University.
  • Evidence of enrollment for PhD in Recreation and Sports Management.
  • Teaching experience in an institution of higher learning will be an added advantage

Method of Application

TERMS OF SERVICE:

  • A competitive remuneration package which includes basic salary, generous house allowance, medical cover as per University Scheme will be provided. 
  • For teaching positions above Tutorial Fellow, employment will be on permanent and pensionable terms.
  • Tutorial Fellows are employed on one (1) year renewable contract, to a maximum of three (3) years.

  • Copies of certificates and testimonials should also be enclosed giving the names and addresses of three (3) referees who are conversant with the applicant’s competence in area of specialization.
