The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA) is a State Corporation established under the State Corporations Act Cap 446 through Legal Notice No.110 of August 9th, 2019 after a merger between Export Promotion Council and Brand Kenya Board. The Agency’s core mandate is to implement export promotion and nation branding initiatives and policies to promote Kenya’s export of goods and services.

Chief Executive Officer – 4 Positions
KEPROBA GRADE 1- V/NO. 01/2023
Job Specification
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
- Be the Accounting Officer in line with section 67 of the PFM Act 2012 and perform the functions of the Accounting Officer in line with the PFM Act 2012 and PFM Regulations 2015, as well as provisions of section 44 of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2015 and its regulations;
- Ensuring that the Agency delivers on its mandate as stipulated by the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency Order, Legal Notice No. 110 of 9th August 2019;
- Providing strategic leadership, general supervision and management of the Agency on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by the Board to ensure achievement of KEPROBA strategic objectives;
- Providing organizational leadership and vision in developing and recommending to the Board the strategy and annual work plans for KEPROBA;
- providing regular, thorough and prompt communication to the Board on key technical, financial and administrative matters;
- Advocate, coordinate, harmonize and implement Export Promotion and Nation Branding initiatives and policies to promote Kenyan goods and services in export markets;
- Collect, collate, disseminate and serve as a repository of trade and Kenyan brand
- Provide nation branding guidelines for stakeholders’ initiatives including Kenya missions abroad;
- Advocate, promote and facilitate the development and diversification of Kenya’s exporttrade;
- Promote and brand Kenyan export through knowledge-based support and information to exporters and producers including export procedures and documentation, market entry requirements, and marketing techniques;
- Encourage and monitor the observance of international standards and specifications by exporters;
- Provide cooperation to the export inspection agencies on quality control and pre[1]shipment inspection of export products to ensure observance of international standards and specifications;
- Promote and Brand Kenya as a supplier of high-quality goods and services;
- Ensure the harmonized application of the national mark of identity for Kenyan goods and services;
- Formulate and implement strategies for improved balance of trade, foreign exchange earnings and retention;
- Offer advice to Kenyan exporters including in technology upgrading, quality and design improvement, standards and product development, and innovation;
- Provide export assistance services, such as distribution of trade-related information to exporters, foreign country market research, and counselling to exporters;
- Co-ordinate Kenya’s participation in trade promotion events including trade fairs and buyer-seller meets;
- Provide market intelligence through; research, analysis and monitoring of trends and opportunities in international markets that Kenyan exporters can take advantage of to increase and or diversify exports;
- Provide Kenyans with positive information about Kenya in order to promote national unity, patriotism and national pride;
- Establish an integrated approach within Government and private sector towards international marketing and branding Kenya;
- Build national support for the nation brand with other Government Agencies, nongovernmental organizations and the private sector;
- Provide customized advisory services;
- Be responsible for the execution and communication of the Agency’s strategies, decisions and policies;
- Develop and recommend to the Agency’s Board the annual business plans for the organization for consideration and approval;
- Ensure that the organization has an effective management structure, internal controls and processes;
- Ensure that all Agency’s Board papers are accurately written, are relevant and are availed to the Agency Board members in good time;
- Be responsible for the achievement of the objectives of the organizations;
- Put in place effective administrative structures, processes and systems;
- Provide regular, thorough and prompt communication to the Agency on key technical, financial and administrative matters;
- Be responsible for stakeholder management and the enhancement of the corporate image of the organization;
Person Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Commerce or itsequivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
- Master’s degree in business administration, International Business, Commerce, law or any other related discipline from a recognized Institution
- Have at least fifteen (15) years knowledge and experience in the relevant field, five (5) of which must be in senior management in the public service or in a reputable organization in the private sector;
- Relevant professional qualification and membership to a professional body;
- Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Meets the requirements of the fit and proper test; and
- Fulfils the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.Knowledge of the following areas will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of international trading system including export market access, mandatory & voluntary standards, non-tariff measures, sustainability & traceability in supply chains
- Knowledge of global markets, trade data analysis & market intelligence to formulate theimplementation of Kenya’s export strategy.
- Knowledge of market & product development including buyer preferences, packaging & labelling, route to market, price competitiveness
Director, Corporate Services
KEPROBA GRADE 2 – V/NO. 2/2023
Job Specification
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
- Overseeing all issues regarding the financing of the Agency’s activities and advise the Agency on financial planning strategies and policies.
- Developing and implementing sound financial management policies and procedures
- Planning and coordinating timely preparation of annual budget estimates for the Agency
- Developing and implementing internal controls and compliance
- Overseeing preparation of the final Annual Statement of Accounts in accordance with accounting standards and procedures
- Monitoring and evaluating funds applications and accountability
- Ensuring prudent and optimal utilization of Agency funds and Assets
- Providing timely and accurate management accounts and reports to the management and the Agency
- Providing oversight to the Agency’s human capital affairs, ensuring that the Agency has the right and sufficient human resource to meet its objectives.
- Providing oversight for effective records management operations
- Participating in the development and review of the Institution’s strategic plan
- Reviewing the Corporate Services business plans in line with the overall strategic objectives and government performance contract
- Overseeing operations of Human Resources, Administration and Finance & Accounting departments
- Overseeing development and implementation of the Agency’s corporatecommunication strategy
- Managing risk and ensuring effective implementation and compliance with all legislative requirements relating to corporate services.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have at least: –
- Master’s Degree in any of the following: Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resource or their equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Bachelor’s Degree in either Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance,Communications, Public Relations, Human Resource or any other equivalentqualification from a recognized institution
- A minimum of twelve (12) years relevant work experience, five (5) of which must have been in a senior management position in the public or private sector.
- Relevant professional qualification and membership to a professional body
- Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
- Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Corporation Secretary & Head of Legal Services
KEPROBA GRADE 3 – V/NO. 8/2023
Job Specification
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
- Coordinate litigation matters for the Agency
- Act a liaison between Agency and the office of the Attorney General
- Act as Secretary to the Agency’s Board
- Provide guidance to the Agency’s Board on their responsibilities
- Assist the Agency in carrying out Agency’s Board induction and training, updating the Agency’s Board and Committee charters, preparation of Agency’s Board work[1]plans, Agency’s Board evaluation and governance
- Coordinate the implementation of the Agency Code of Conduct and Ethics
- Ensure that Agency’s Board and Committee papers are circulated in advance of any meeting
- Provide guidance on governance and adherence to statutory obligations
- Prepare all Agency contracts, handle all litigation and conveyance matters of the Agency
- Provide legal guidance on contractual and statutory obligations binding to the institution and legal duties for the Agency
- Provide legal guidance on nation branding and trade related standards and legislation
- Facilitate development of all bills and policies for the Agenc

Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have at least: –
- Master’s Degree in Law, Business Administration/Management, Public Policy/Public Policy and Governance or Diplomacy/International Studies from a recognized university
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Member to the Law Society of Kenya
- Hold current LSK practicing certificate
- Member, Institute of Certified Public Secretary of Kenya (ICPSK) in good standing
- Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Council of Legal Education
- A minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience three (3) of which must have been in a management position in the public or private sector
- Relevant professional qualification and membership to a professional body

Manager, Brand Development and Marketing
KEPROBA GRADE 3 – V/NO. 9/2023
Job Specification
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
- Understanding the vision, aspirations and perceptions, purpose, positioning and commitment of the nation brand – Kenya; 2
- Prioritizing the value drivers and key audiences in terms of how to govern the nation brand;
- Working with all stakeholders in order to develop and implement the Nation BrandingStrategy for Kenya;
- Working with various stakeholders to continually build and sustain the nation brand.
- Collaborating with all stakeholders in mobilizing resources for the Implementation and Monitoring of the defined nation branding strategy for Kenya;
- Working with the stakeholders to promote the Kenya brand to its citizens both resident in Kenya and in the diaspora, in order to enhance patriotism, national pride, social cohesion and participation in nation building;
- Working with Media and Publicity function within the Agency to develop and execute integrated communications campaigns targeting the public and other targeted consumer segments;
- Continually monitoring country branding trends including identification of risks and opportunities and advise the Agency on corrective actions as necessary;
- Developing the Agency’s and Kenya’s brand guidelines and ensuring they are upheld at all times by stakeholders;
- Constantly monitoring and analyzing stakeholder needs and country branding trends through national and international market insights and research;
- Leading the department by budgeting, planning and directing resources to achieve targets and objectives;
- Building a highly effective team, by leading, managing and motivating staff and by directing and coaching them where appropriate, so that they achieve excellence in delivery.
- Ensuring performance measures are designed to evaluate performance of the branding function against the Agency’s strategic plan;
- Ensuring timely and comprehensive reporting is done on work undertaken on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis including for performance contracting;
- Taking responsibility for the reports emerging from the Branding Development & Marketing function and all documentation sent to the Director and the CEO;
- Playing a senior leadership role in bringing along staff to support the delivery of targets and goals by developing effective and strategic interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships;
- Ensuring Departmental compliance with the relevant Government laws, policies and the relevant ISO standard(s) and procedures of the Agency.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have at least: –
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Marketing, Commerce or its equivalent from a recognized University;
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce or equivalent;
- At least ten (10) years’ progressive experience in Marketing/Branding three (3) of which must be at management level;
- Professional certification in Marketing or related field;
- Membership to a professional body of marketing;
- Fulfilling the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution; and,
- Attended a management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
