The Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme (ISFAP) is aimed at furthering South Africa’s developmental goals. This is achieved through a financial aid programme that targets lower to lower middle-income students studying in fields of high demand.
The ISFAP is the product of the relationship between public and private sector, aiming to drive national development as well as sustainable employment.
The Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme (ISFAP) was created to provide financial support to lower and middle-income South African tertiary students. ISFAP primarily aims to fund students who will potentially fill critical skills shortages in the country. These Occupations of High Demand (OHD) take the form of Actuaries, Doctors, Prosthetists, Artisans, Accountants and Engineers.

About the ISFAP Bursary
The ISFAP will provide financial support for the following degrees at these listed South African tertiary institutions, as per the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) certification:

Requirements and Eligibility
Prospective applicants need to satisfy all of the requirements of the ISFAP Bursary in order to be considered for the programme:
- Applications are open to South African citizens ONLY.
- Applicants who are entering their first year of tertiary studies in 2022 ONLY.
- Applicants who have successfully obtained their National Senior Certificate (NSC).
- Applicants who have successfully registered at one of the above-mentioned tertiary institutions.
- Applicants who are studying one of the above-mentioned degrees.
- Applicants whose household annual income is below R600 000.
Failure to comply with the above-mentioned requirements will result in a rejected application.
What does the ISFAP Bursary Cover?
The ISFAP – Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme will cover the following study related expenses:
- The tuition costs of the successful applicants will be covered.
- The accommodation costs of the successful applicants will be covered.
- The meals of the successful applicants will be covered.
- The study material of the successful applicants will be covered.
- Successful applicants will be provided with a monthly allowance.
Please note that successful applicants will be provided with an on campus course manager.

The following supporting documentation should be attached to the applicant’s application form:
- The applicant should attach a certified copy of their ID card/book.
- The applicant should attach their ISFAP application form.
Failure to adhere to the application requirements will result in the application being disregarded.
