The genesis of Gulf African Bank (GAB) can be traced back to 2005, when a group of motivated Kenyans envisioned establishing an Islamic bank as an alternative to conventional banking in the country. By conducting business on the principles of Shari’ah, the bank would provide an ethical and fair mode of banking for all. Gulf African Bank is the first and largest Islamic Bank in Kenya and one of the fastest growing banks in the history of the banking sector of the country. The bank offers fully Shari’ah compliant products and services that address the needs of not just Muslims, but everyone in the country including individuals, corporate companies, and institutions. The bank was incorporated on August 9th, 2006 and started operations as a commercial bank in January 8th 2008, in a historic event, where it was granted the country’s first fully-fledged commercial banking license as a dedicated Islamic bank, by the Central Bank of Kenya.

Manager, High Net Worth Individuals
Job Purpose
Create, develop, and execute strategies for the High Net Worth segment with the aim of creating a compelling value proposition to target the affluent customer segment
Key Responsibilities
- Design, formulate and execute segment growth strategies and marketing programs to drive segment revenue (P&L) and business performance
- Formulate a compelling value proposition targeting High Net Worth (HNW) customers that attracts new customers and retains existing ones
- Design products based on identified customer needs, formulate tactical business plans to package product offer to grow segment base, enhance customer engagement and work closely with internal stakeholders to launch them
- Explore the potential of the market and generate new ideas to enhance customer experience to maximize business opportunities
- Acquire and retain new clients and ensure maximum product utilization to meet customer needs
- Grow a quality portfolio
- Closely monitor market developments to identify opportunities and threats and device courses of action
- Develop strong partnerships with key stakeholders to drive strategy and buy-in that will lead to successful implementation of programs
- Put in place the metrics needed to ensure performance of programs are closely monitored by employing data for program & product analysis and “next steps” planning.
- Ensure clients are satisfied and collate feedback to inform continuous improvement;
- Lead, manage and coach the HNW team to enhance the team capabilities and achievement of goals.
- Design training programs for the Team to better serve the Affluent and HNW market
- Uphold the Bank’s philosophy by ensuring adherence to the Company’s vision, mission and business
Skills, Experience And Competencies
- Business related degree
- 12 years’ experience in Banking with at least 3 years leading the HNW segment
- Master’s degree in business
- Marketing accreditation
- Experience of working in the Banking industry and Kenya
- Experience in customer acquisition and retention
- Understand HNW customers via formal and informal research and develop offers and recommend relevant marketing mix
- Strong project management and excellent stakeholder management skills (required)
- Strong investment knowledge e.g. funds, estate planning (preferred)
- Product management experience (preferred)
- Have good relationship management skills and be meticulous paying attention to details, and able to perform under pressure
- Solid marketing background with good knowledge in wealth products is definitely an advantage
- Self-motivated and excellent in digital project management skills.

Relationship Manager-Retail
Job Purpose:
To have a holistic view of all accounts within his/her portfolio, using lead generation & account prioritization to cross sell Bank Products and extract value from said portfolio whilst maintaining /building customer relationship and account information
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure growth of Branch Retail Portfolio (NFI, Deposits and assets) through the acquisition of new to bank customers through the Business sales officers and lead generation.
- Actively generates referrals to all business partners in the bank to help meet the comprehensive financial needs of entrepreneurs or borrowing entity
- To ensure acquisition of customers to digital channels
- To effectively manage and expand the relationships with existing SME Banking clients and bringing in new partnerships from existing portfolio so as to ensure business growth and continuity
- Grow Retail customer portfolio size (Product per customer, Non funded income, deposits and assets) by deepening existing customer relationships
- Ensure a clear retention plan for overall portfolio deposits and loans for the segment, to execute this plan in conjunction with Branch Managers
- Assist in resolving queries in a timely and appropriate manner
- Assist in collaborating with product specialist to deliver effective customer solutions
- Ensure fulfilment of minimum customer relationships touch points e.g. 1 visit every quarter and 1 call and email a month a month depended on customer segment
- Prepare and submit all reports may prepare management reports summarizing individual and team loan activity
- Ensure all customers are on-boarded on a digital platform i.e. Gabpesa, internet banking
- To understand business, their life-cycles and the various product offerings that can be given to the customer
- To evaluate credit proposals and ensure the credit applications process on a timely basis with the bank’s set turnaround times
- Ensure all customers engagements are recorded accordingly
- To ensure compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements
- To continuously follow business operational and credit policies ensuring their compliance
- To safeguard and promote the bank’s image with the general public
- To assist in other issues aspects such as issue resolution and activities related to credit support and product partners to support our growth strategy

Manager, Diaspora Banking
Job Purpose
Drive strategic focus by developing the overall sales & operational strategy in relation to Diaspora Banking
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement appropriate customer value propositions for the Diaspora clients in order to bridge the business opportunity gaps existing in this segment.
- Acquire and retain new clients and ensure maximum product utilization to meet customer needs
- Grow a quality portfolio
- Provide advisory and value-added services by analyzing Diaspora customer’s investment needs and recommend appropriate investment options
- Evaluate customer’s financial data or investment objectives and recommend products/services based on the client’s risk profile and personal financial statements
- Design product and service offerings to Diaspora Client to meet their unique expectations
- Provide leadership, develop and motivate the team members
- Drive the financial & business growth targets for Diaspora Banking
- Grow the Bank’s market share in the chosen Diaspora segments
