The University of Melbourne is a public research university located in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1853, it is Australia’s second oldest university and the oldest in Victoria.
The General Studies Scholarship support students from disadvantaged backgrounds to transition to university.
These scholarships are designed to contribute to the costs associated with beginning university, such as Student Services and Amenities Fees, books, discipline-specific equipment, and technological devices.
Aim and Benefits of General Studies Scholarship
Scholarship covers up to $5,000.
Requirements for General Studies Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
1. Be an Australian citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or holder of a permanent Humanitarian Visa; and
2. Meet the criteria for entry to the Diploma General Studies; and
3. Enrol full time in your course, unless documentary evidence for reasons you cannot enrol full time is provided; and
4. Remain enrolled in the DIGS until after the census date in each semester.
Selection Criteria for General Studies Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
1. Demonstrate financial need; or
2. Meet the rural student criteria; or
3. Be an Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander.
