About Flinders University Research Preparation Scholarship
In Adelaide, South Australia, there is a public university called Flinders University. It was established in 1966, and navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and mapped the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century, was honored in its name.
The Research Preparation Scholarship for Indigenous Students’ main aim is to financially assist indigenous students for a full academic year as they pursue a course of study that, once finished, will allow them to be admitted to a research higher degree program.
Benefits of Flinders University Research Preparation Scholarship
The value of the scholarship will be equivalent to the current Flinders University Research Scholarship rate for up to one year of study.
The scholarship will be paid in fortnightly payments and will begin once the successful awardee has evidence of full-time enrolment in the approved pathway degree.
Requirements for Flinders University Research Preparation Scholarship
To be eligible for consideration for the award, applicants must:
1. Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
2. Be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and be accepted as an Australian aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which the applicant lives or has lived;
3. Be enrolled or have the offer to commence one of the pathway programs listed above;
4. Not have held an Indigenous Research Preparation Scholarship previously, and
5. Intend to apply to undertake a research higher degree at Flinders University on completing study supported by the Indigenous Research Preparation Scholarship.
