About Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK)
In August 2009, Kenya signed onto the 2005 UNESCO Convention against Doping in Sport. Article 5 of the Convention states that, “In abiding by the obligations contained in this convention, each State Party undertakes to adopt appropriate measures. Such measures may include legislation, regulation, policies or administrative practices”. In addition, Article 22 of the 2015 World Anti-Doping Code stipulates that each Government will put in place legislation, regulation, policies or administrative practices for cooperation and sharing of information with anti-doping organizations and sharing of data among anti-doping organizations as provided in the Code. In line with this the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) a State Corporation was established under the Anti-Doing Act 2016. One of the key goals for establishing the Agency was to protect athletes’ fundamental rights to participate in doping-free sport and thus promoting good health, fairness and equality for athletes in Kenya. Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya Vacancies 2023
We are currently recruiting to fill the following positions;
- Director-Standards and Compliance
- Office Administrator
Director-Standards and Compliance
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
- formulating and reviewing Anti-Doping Compliance and Testing Policies, Strategies and Programs;
- ensuring compliance of Anti-Doping programs in line with International Standards;
- recommending cases on Anti-Doping Rules Violations to the Sports Dispute Tribunal reporting Anti-Doping Rules Violations outcomes to relevant sports persons and organizations;
- communicating outcomes of the Sports Dispute Tribunal to the relevant sports persons and organizations;
- liaising with Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) in carrying out testing;
- ensuring testing of sports persons is done in accordance with International Standards of Testing and Investigation;
- overseeing provision of standard guidelines on the quality of testing equipment;
- overseeing management of the Registered Testing Pool;
- spearheading publication of criteria for inclusion into Registered Testing Pool;
- overseeing identification and engagement of credible Anti-Doping facilitators for
- doping control process, Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) and Results Management (RM);
- reviewing and establishing Anti-Doping Rule Violation cases;
- spearheading identification process and compilation of data on sports disciplines with high risk of doping;
- coordinating submission of applications to the TUE Panel;
- liaising with other Government agencies in eradicating use of performance enhancing substances among sports persons;
- update relevant bodies on the status of Anti-Doping Rule Violation cases;
- Making recommendations for investigations and sanctions against non-complying federations, athletes and other stakeholders;
- Enforcing measures to strengthen good conduct of ethical practices, internal controls and auditing systems to improve the overall compliance environment.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
- served for a minimum of seventeen (17) years in a comparable position three (3) of which must have been at a managerial position;
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Physical Education, Sports Science or Leisure and Recreation Management from a recognized institution.
OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management from a recognized institution.
OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Education (Sciences) or Pharmacy with a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Physical Education, Recreation Management, Exercise and Sports Science from a recognized institution.
OR
- Master’s Degree in Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management from a recognized institution;
OR
- Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Education (Sciences) or Pharmacy with a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. a Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
Office Administrator
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
- drafting letters;
- recording dictation in shorthand and transcribing it in type written form;
- typing from drafts, manuscripts or recording from dictation machines; processing data;
- operating office equipment;
- attending to visitors/clients;
- handling telephone calls and appointments;
- ensuring security of office records, equipment and documents;
- effective management of office protocol and media issues; and
- guide and supervise secretarial staff in lower grades.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
- a Bachelor Degree in Secretarial Studies or a Bachelor of Business and Office Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;
OR
- a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences plus a Diploma in Secretarial Studies from the Kenya National Examinations Council or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;
OR
- a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences plus the following qualifications from the Kenya National Examinations Council:-
- Shorthand III (minimum 120 w.p.m.)
- Typewriting III (50 w.p.m.)/ Computerized Document
- Processing III
- Business English III/Communications II
- Commerce II
- Office Management III/Office Administration and Management III
- Secretarial Duties II;
- a Certificate in Computer Applications (Windows, Ms-Word, Ms- Excel, Ms- Access and Internet) from a recognized institution; excellent interpersonal communication skills.
