Solskjaer Now Favourite to Get Sacked After Loss to Burnley

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now favourite to be the next Premier League manager out of a job after Manchester United lost to Burnley on Wednesday night.

Solskjaer’s side went behind to a Chris Wood header before Jay Rodriguez doubled the Clarets’ lead with a phenomenal strike to give Burnley a 2-0 win over United at Old Trafford.

And now the bookies have dropped the odds on the Norwegian being the next boss to be sacked in the Premier League. Odds have fallen to as low as 8/11 with William Hill for Solskjaer to be the next man to lose his job.

The longest odds are just 2/1 with the likes of Betfair and Paddy Power.

It means Solskjaer has overtaken Eddie Howe as the favourite to be dismissed, with the Bournemouth manager as long as 4/1 with SkyBet to exit the Vitality Stadium.

Just behind them is Dean Smith, with the Aston Villa manager 8/1 to be sacked next in the Premier League.

Solskjaer has been on a difficult run with United, losing against Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend before Wednesday night’s humiliation.

They have now lost three of their last four Premier League games, putting him in a difficult position, and finishing in the top four now looks unlikely.

The 46-year-old admitted after the game that the performance was ‘not good enough’.

‘The players are giving everything, they have done absolutely fantastic so far this season but they know it wasn’t good enough tonight,’ he said.

‘The boys looked mentally tired towards the end, we didn’t find that creativity.

‘We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. When you are at Man United you are privileged because you are playing for the best club in the world.
